Wisdom laid three choices in front of her: the past, the present, and the future.
Wisdom turned to her and said, “Choose one, for you can only choose one, because none can be together at the same time.”
She turned to the past and asked, “What do you offer me?”
The past answered, “I can relay for you the best and worst moments of your life. I can allow you to see where you’ve gone wrong and where you’ve gone right. I can be the cause of your darkest moods or the keeper of your best memories.”
Next, she turned to the future and asked, “What do you offer me?”
The future answered, “I do not yet exist, you may do with me as you please. I can be the cause of your deepest anxiety or the visions you wish to dream upon.”
Lastly, she turned to the present and asked, “What do you offer me?”
The present answered simply, “I can let you live.”
